Hunting in Tasman (Nelson)

The Nelson Tasman region is anchored by three big blocks of public hunting country: Kahurangi National Park, the Mt Richmond Forest Park, and Nelson Lakes National Park, which runs a popular helicopter-access block system in spring and during the roar. Red stag and fallow deer are hunted through the bush valleys and tops, with chamois in the higher Kahurangi and Nelson Lakes country. The autumn roar is the prime red stag window. It is a region of long climbs and rewarding tops, and operators here can sort the access and block logistics that shape a top-of-the-south hunt.
