Hunting in West Coast

The West Coast is alpine species country: rainforest climbing straight from the valley floor to the tops, with the glacier valleys of South Westland holding some of the best free-range tahr and chamois in the country. The river valleys south of Hokitika are known red deer country. The tahr rut runs late May to mid-July, and stags roar through late March and April. Guided hunting on the Coast includes private land and estate as well as the backcountry the region is famous for.
